I am so excited that I finally have my Master Bedroom coming together. Back in June we started this framed picture project, and had to put it on hold when we found out we were moving.
So all the cutting and staining of the frame was done at the old house, and I also got my AWESOME 24×36 picture printed while we were still there. You can order yours too from Staples. Here’s a direct link to Staples Engineering Prints. They are kinda blurry up close, but they look so dang awesome from far away, and you can’t beat that price. You could even get a 36×48 print for just over $7!!
Once we got to the new house, I couldn’t wait any longer, I had to put it together. So one night after putting the kids to bed, I laid it all out on the floor and the hubby and I got to work. Oops, the only thing is, we didn’t have screws that were short enough. The ones that came with the L brackets were too long, and would poke thru the front of the frame. So we had to cut off the tip of the screw before using it, then pre drill our holes (since the pointy end of the screw was now gone!). So word to the wise, make sure that you have screws SHORTER than the depth of your frame!!
Ok, so once we had the frame all put together (you can see our step by step instructions from my “I love you to the moon and back” post), we just used duct tape to put the picture on the back. Make sure to pull it taut from one side to the other to prevent wrinkling.
We put it above our master bed, because well, it’s us!! Kinda makes sense right?!
And the stain on the frame was kinda a spur of the moment decision, but I am total in love with it. Like DYING over how it looks. So I’m thinking that all of my furniture needs to be stripped and stained to match. Thoughts?

Cute idea!
Thanks so much Tia, it has been so fun to have it up!
Your bedroom is super cute & that frame looks great above the bed!
Awe, thanks Amber. It’s nice to finally have our room put together and that place to escape the world for a minute!!
I have been wanting one of those large oversized photos, but haven’t been wanting to fork out a whole bunch of money for a frame! This is great – thank you!
Yes, don’t pay big bucks. It was super simple and so quick/cheap to make!!! And you can even use molding if you want to add detail to the frame!
I love this so much! It totally completes your room!
Thanks, I think it does too. Totally eliminated that horrible open space above the bed.
I totally love this Vanessa! Want to help me make mine ;)! You are so creative, just PINNED!
Absolutely!!!! We need a reason to get together. Now that summer is coming to an end, hopefully we can have lotsa play dates?!
I’m glad to know about Staples Engineering Prints! What a great photo!
It’s so fun, and great that they are so inexpensive!!
Love the frame. I am getting ready to make one, and I love your tips thank you.
Great idea! It looks fabulous above your bed…and romantic. Thanks for sharing how you got the picture so large at Staples. I saw your post over at Coastal Charm blog.
It looks great! I love the color of the wood!
I am so in love with this! I want to do this now!
It’s so easy and makes such an impact.
It turned out really cute! I have been wanting to print one of these engineering prints but I have been wondering about quality on it. I only use my iPhone 6 plus for photos, do you think that would work on one of these engineering prints?
This is such a great way to personalize your bedroom. It looks great.
Hi, Vanessa ~ I’m visiting from the Living with Style Link Party. I LOVE this project! And it looks like a project I could handle. I’m working on a gallery wall and might work a few of these frames in. Thanks for sharing and have a great day!
Beautiful! I love the black and white with the rustic frame.
Thank you for sharing this week at Brag About It link party on VMG206 (Mondays at Midnight). I plan to feature you next week!
