The other day, The Little Man saw some “juice pops” on TV. I’m not sure what exactly they were, because I didn’t see them. but he came running and BEGGING to make some. So, we mad our own version of what I thought it was. Turns out, he is more than pleased with them and we have already had to make a second batch. The best part is that you can customize it to whatever juice you want your pops to be.
Watermelon Limeade Pops
- 6 cups Limeade (can be made from a frozen concentrate)
- 1 cup blended watermelon
- Dixie Cups
- Tin Foil or saran wrap
- Rubber bands
- Mini popsicle sticks
Blend your watermelon in your blender until you have 1 cup off liquid. Add 6 cups of limeade and blend until well mixed.
Pour the juice into small dixie cups, until about 1/2-3/4 full.
Cut your tin foil or saran wrap to fit around the cup. Place over the top, and secure in place with rubber bands. Cut a 1/4 inch slit in the center of the cup, and put your popsicle stick into the juice, being held in place by the wrap.
Then freeze until they are solid. to remove them from the cup, just cut a slit at the top of the cup and peel from the frozen juice.
Once they are all removed, eat and enjoy or place into a freezer safe ziplock bag and store in the freezer until later!
The best part of these is that they are very kid friendly. The Little Man helped me every step of the way. Then throughout the day would open the freezer to check to see if they were done freezing.
Our next pop was a strawberry, but we will be going for a Root Beer float one next! Stay tuned for more fun popsicle recipes throughout the summer. There will be fun ones to share!
