Sometimes there is a smell, a sound or a food that can immediately take you back to a certain moment or time in life; you hear the song you had your first kiss to, the smell of cologne or perfume that was overbearing in the halls of Jr. High, or the taste of your favorite snack growing up. I know i’m not the only one who has those nostalgic times. What would you say is something that instantly takes you back?

One of those things for me is Cheerios™. They were a staple in my house growing up and instantly remind me of my Dad (only picture I could find of me and him was of us on a giant swing together…..only fitting!). There were so many times that I would sit down at night and have a bowl of cereal while watching a show or the night time news with my Dad. The smell that you get opening the box is such a nostalgic one for me. Whether it’s for a bowl of cereal or using them to create a recipe, I love having Cheerios™ as a staple in my house now for my kids!

You know that I love to bake and cook with my kids, and I can attribute that to my parents. They always had us in the kitchen making recipes with them from such a young age. Because I am always reminded of my parents, I decided that I would get even more nostalgic and participate in the Buy a Box. Give a Free Box campaign to send the free box to my parents.

You can purchase a box of Cheerios™ at Walmart, scan the QR code on the box and then send an E-card online to a friend or family member for them to redeem for a free box of Cheerios™ at Walmart.

I used my box of cereal to make snack bars for the kids (but to be honest, it’s so good that I ate most of it!) and it was so easy that the kids helped me in the kitchen as well. I love having that time in the kitchen together, and teaching them a skill they will use for the rest of their lives.
