Fall Decor with Cricut EasyPress Mini

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Cricut. The opinions and text are all mine.

I’m in that awkward stage of the year where I put fall decor up for just a minute, then switch to Halloween, and then quickly back to Fall for a few more weeks. Anyone else do this decoration dance this time of year?

I wanted a new fall wreath to go inside my front door so I decided to make one. I’m in love with how it turned out.

The tutorial for this wreath is so simple. I started with a blank grapevine wreath and then made the banner to tie on.

add dimension to pendents with antiquing

I started by giving my pendents a little dimension. I didn’t want to paint them completely so instead I just “antiqued” the edges. It was a really simple thing but I love the detail it added.

I used a little bit of brown paint and dabbed a paper towel into it. Tap the excess paint off (you don’t want much on it) then I rubbed the edged with the paint. The best part is, there’s no right or wrong way to do it. Set aside to let it dry!

I designed this “Hello FALL” banner to be cut for a 2.25″ pendent. You can get my cut file here in design space.

I cut the vinyl our using my Cricut cutting machine. When you cut iron on vinyl, make sure to turn mirror on, and put the shiny plastic side DOWN against the mat. That way when you go to iron the vinyl onto your pendent it will be the correct direction.

Weeding vinyl

After the vinyl is cut, you need to weed it. This means you take off all of the unnecessary vinyl off of the plastic. Around the words, and then don’t forget the small sections inside your letters like your O, E and A’s.

I like to weed my vinyl when all of the images are still connected. But then after weeding, I cut each letter, word or image apart from each other so that each one can be ironed on individually.

Easy Press Mini

Next I pre-heated the Easy Press Mini. For the chipboard it needed to be at medium heat for 20ish seconds. I love that it’s a simple single button and it stays red until it’s heated fully. Once it’s hot, it beeps and turns red.

Next I ironed on each of the letters/word/image, one per pendent. The easy press mini does not have a timer on it, so you need to track the time on your own.

After the vinyl is ironed on to each of the pendents, I attached them together with a black ribbon. I left about 1/2-3/4″ in between each one; just enough room to tie a few decorative ribbons around it.

Then using the different colored ribbons, I tied them in knots between each of the letters. Each space had different # and colors tied around it.

Once all of the ribbons were tied on, I took the excess ribbon on each end and tied it to the grapevine wreath.

It turned out exactly how I pictured it in my mind, and I looove it! It’s simple yet a statement at the same time.

Ok, now that you know how to make the wreath yourself, let me tell you a little about the Cricut EasyPress mini that I used to make it.

If you’ve been around a while you know I love using iron on vinyl, and the EasyPress is such a great tool to go along with that love. But this one is small making it perfect for ironing on small vinyl pieces, and onto small areas.

It has the same benefits and technology as the other EasyPress tools, but in a small and compact size! It is the newest addition to the EasyPress family, and you definitely need it in your tool belt!

What project are you excited to use the EasyPress Mini on? I’m looking forward to hats, barbie clothes, and even a few custom stuffed animals in our future!!
