I love a warm and filling breakfast. There’s not much more I like to be doing then be in the kitchen making the family a warm and flavorful breakfast. I love to put little twists on old/traditional recipes as well. I grew up having crepes for breakfast on a regular basis, and now my kids have done the same thing. One of my twists that I have put on the recipe is making them chocolate flavored creating chocolate crepes. I used nesquick powder in my recipe to make it a chocolate flavor, and the reason is because it’s a sweeter chocolate flavoring, making it perfect for this type of recipe. It’s not full of a bitter chocolate requiring more sugar!
This has been a great breakfast for my kids as they head back to school. They loved picking out their own fruit.
- Peaches
- Blueberries
- Bananas
- Strawberries
- Raspberries
and of course mixing all of the above!!!
Chocolate Crepes Recipe
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 cups Chocolate Nesquik
- 4 Tablespoons Sugar
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 3/4 cups water
- 4 eggs
- 4 teaspoons oil
Combine the Flour, Nesquick and sugar in a large mixing bowl. Once mixed, stir in the milk and water using an electric mixer. Once fully incorporated, add in the eggs and oil mixing for about 2 minutes.
To cook the crepes, I use a nonstick pan on medium heat and put the batter in the center. I use a swirling motion to spread the batter out evenly.
Once the batter starts looking “dry” it’s time to flip. They cook relatively quickly and easily. Once cooked, add the fruit to the center of the crepe then fold it in half over the fruit and roll from the center out.
Top with either whipped cream or powdered sugar. Serve with the crepe warm and the fruit chilled. Let everyone pick their favorite fruit and it will be a hit with everyone! This even makes a great breakfast bar!
What would you put inside your chocolate crepe? My favorite is fresh peaches. I was lucky that my neighbor gave me a bunch, so I can have these a few times in the coming weeks! Also, I’m thinking that next I need to try these with some Strawberry Nesquik. How delicious do Strawberry Crepes sound?!
