The other day Cricut sent me some of their amazing adhesive foil in the mail and challenged me to create something Mardi Gras themed. I instantly knew that I wanted to make a mask because my kids DIE whenever we make them. It’s one of their favorite things to do because of the imagination they get to use.
Supplies:
- Blank mask
- Adhesive Foil
- Cricut Explore (or scissors to hand cut)
- weeding tool
Instructions:
Start by designing what shapes you want to have cut, using the Cricut Design Space. I picked a couple different swirls, a zig zag line that we cut into smaller portions and stars. You can pick a whole bunch more if you want! Then to cut your foil. place it on your standard cutting mat, and load it into your machine. Turn the cutting dial to custom and pick foil – adhesive from the dropdown menu on your screen. Then start your cut! The thing I love most about cutting with a Cricut explore is that I don’t have to adjust any speeds or pressure. The machine does it all for me!!!!!!
Once every color is cut out, weed all the shapes from the excess using the weeding tool. This will help separate the foil from the backing. If you would like to use transfer tape, you can lay it over the top and cut each individual shape from it once in place. But I decided we would use it more in a sticker manner, and let everyone pick their shape directly off the backing.
Have everyone remove their shapes and put in place on their mask. There’s really no wrong way to go about this!!! Use some scissors to cut off any excess foil that may be sticking over the edges of the mask. Decorate and you’re done!!!!!!!!!
These are So cute!! Thanks for the fun tutorial!
