BEAUTIFUL Day

I’ve been mentioning the fabulous weather we are having here in Utah. I’m truly getting used to shoving the kids out the door and getting their energy out by running circles in the yard! But on the other hand, they are doing the same for me! This summer may call for Mommy naps too, if we keep this up!
The little man wants to be chased around. He can’t run by himself, he needs to be chased or chase someone. He started running towards me saying “I spank Mommy’s butt”. hmmm, I really don’t know where that came from. Because we do not use the word butt in our house. I’m curious where he picked that one up from?! It amazes me how a 2 year old can hear something once and remember it forever!

So recently The Little Man has felt like he doesn’t need a nap anymore. He is “too big boy” for them. So my goal come 11:30 every day now is to make him VERY VERY active for an hour. Today’s trick? An outside obstacle course! I was nervous about this at first, because I wasn’t sure that he would understand what was going on, or remember the tasks to accomplish. Who am I kidding, 2 year olds memory rivals a genius with a photo memory.

So we started by drawing a start and finish line with chalk. It’s funny how even this kept him entertained for a while. From the start line, he had to shoot a basketball thru his little hoop (he was telling at the ball, and even bit it because he kept missing. He gets his anger from his dad!). After making a basket, he had to crawl thru the tunnel. Make this a little harder, and more fun by rolling the tunnel once they get into it! With a quick run around the tree, he then picked up the BIG ball and had to drop kick it across the yard before bolting for the finish line!

The first time, I pretended to time him. Who would think that he wanted to see the actual time on my phone. So we had to do it again so that I actually timed it. I’m not complaining because it definitely wore him out!!

And of course, we can’t have this fabulous of a day without POPSICLES!!!
