“All Masked Up” 2020 Back to School shirt tutorial
Yesterday I shared Gracie’s back to school shirt for this year, and today I am excited to share the design I made for Will’s adventure back to school!
We are definitely having a little fun with them, and the fact that the kids are doing half virtual, and have to wear a mask the days they are in person at the elementary school.
The mask wearing is the topic I picked to base Will’s shirt on!
I designed the shirt for every grade, so when you download the file, there will be an image for each grade.
Back to School Shirt Tutorial
Supplies:
Download the image to your computer, and then in Design Space, click the upload button. It is a png image, so there’s no need to do anything else other than select “cut” and name the image.
I sized the image to be 8.5 inches wide before printing. If you are doing a smaller sized shirt (kinder-2nd-ish) you may want to measure the width of your shirt, and size it accordingly.
When getting ready to cut the vinyl, place the shiny side down on the mat, and make sure to MIRROR the image. Then cut the image out of the vinyl. After cutting, weed the excess vinyl from the plastic backing.
To center the image on the shirt, I fold the shirt in half and iron it along the crease. This will make a distinct mark to line up on. Then, fold the vinyl image in half (non-sticky sides together) making a small crease. Then when it’s time to put the image on the shirt, match up the two creases.
I usually put the image 3-4 fingers down from the neck of the shirt.
Iron the image onto the shirt using the Easy Press heat guide.
Ta-da!! All done and ready for the first day of school…..or to wear throughout the school year.
