I am so excited to do my very first Christmas Home Tour on the blog today. You get to see all the fun decor I have throughout my house, both inside and out. It’s been so fun planning and executing the decor this year. I started dreaming and planning the decor MONTHS ago, and was so glad when I had a husband and friends who went along with my craziness as I would text them new ideas I had all the way back in September! Who says you can get too carried away with decorating your first home?!
Anyway, today I teamed up with some FABULOUS bloggers to all show off our home decor for the holidays. So once you are done checking out my post, follow the links at the bottom of the post for the other amazing homes. Also, welcome to all of those who are hopping over from Commona My House.
Now on to the fabulous decor…that’s what you are here for right?!
I COULD LIVE IN THIS ROOM FOREVER. I love Christmas decor and this room is full of it! At night I usually turn on some Christmas music and sit in the dark with the tree’s lights glowing and just hang out in this room. It’s so relaxing and pure perfection!
I layered a million pillows in this room and love each and every one of them! The more Christmas pillows the better. They are on the couch, a pile on the floor and on top of the blanket basket.
I have a ton of wreaths in this room hanging with the stockings. They hang on top of the red and white pom garland. Atop the shelf I have a bunch of different decor pieces including a little ceramic truck with a Christmas tree in the back, which is my daughter’s favorite piece of the decor.
This year the kitchen was simple. I put an unlit garland across the top of the cabinets and then strung two strands of white lights throughout it to make sure it lit up bright at night! Then hanging from the two smallest cabinets above the microwave I put some simple red berry wreaths hung with a green burlap ribbon. There’s also a small ribbon garland draped across the kitchen window which is above the kitchen sink.
The dining room is just off the kitchen and also is minimal with the decor this year. I hung my scrap fabric lighted garland above our double french doors which were both adorned with some green wreaths hung with a red ribbon. The wooden shelves were topped with my lit cardboard “HOHOHO” words that I made years ago. Finishing off the dining room I wrapped the top of the bannister with a lighted garland which I then wrapped with the same green burlap ribbon and it was draped with a red and white pom garland.
The bathroom was an unexpected surprise. I knew I wanted some decor in there, but I didn’t imagine that I would love it as much as I do. This is our guest 1/2 bath, but I find myself using it more and more lately because I just love the cheery atmosphere it brings. It is also the pathway into my laundry room, so I love seeing all of the Christmas cheer as I’m washing all those dirty clothes!
I don’t think I can pick a favorite part in this room. I love the natural look of the banner garland across the mirror, the old Santa on the back of the toilet is awesome, and the little red berry wreath that tops the extra TP is just too fun! I stuck with a very natural and neutral theme in this room, and I think it turned out great. I also can’t help but giggle over the sign above the throne “Home for the Holidays” because we can the toilet my husband’s second home (TMI?!) See more of the bathroom decor here.
We never use our front door, and people rarely come to the door, but I knew that I had to go big on the front porch so people could see it from the street or else nobody would ever get to see it (except the fed-ex guy who delivers stuff daily!). The garlands are all lit up at night with white lights which glow nicely with the white lights across the roofline. See more details of the porch decor here.
That’s all for the home tour. If you stuck with me this long, thank you!!! It was fun to take all of the pictures throughout the house this year.
Now make sure to head over to Stacy Risenmay to check out her home tour as well as all the other’s participating!
Your house can be summed up in one word…..FUN! I love the red and green. So many details and I love it all 🙂
