A few days ago I got to throw my MIL a surprise birthday party, and it was so fun to have the first real party at our new house. Of course, my favorite part was decorating for it; the fans, gold games on the table, the birthday cake topper and the DIY triangle garland.
I used my Cricut Explore to cut and score a bunch of my projects, and today I’m gonna share how easy it was to create the triangle garland.
Supplies:
- Cricut Explore
- Pearl Paper
- Cricut Cutting Mat
- Sewing Machine
- Contrasting Thread
I started by cutting out 2 inch triangles and 2 inch wide double/triple triangles on my Cricut machine using 2 different gold pearl paper colors. You can use my same template to cut by going here. To cut it out, I set the cut setting to custom on the machine, and then selected Pearl Paper on the computer.
Once all of the triangles were cut out, I laid them out by color and size in front of my sewing machine.
I used a black thread because I liked how it contrasted with the gold pearl paper. Then, one by one I put it through the sewing machine with a straight stitch. I chose how long I wanted each strand to be, and cut the thread and started over for the next one, leaving a small tail of thread at the beginning and end of each one.
Once I was done sewing all the triangles, I hung each strand on the wall with clear tape, each one draped a little different and at varying lengths.
The triangle garland was the perfect backdrop for the food table at our party!!!
