We’ve been having some fun around these parts with Halloween coming up. Making decorations, incorporating it into Homeschooling and of course, cooking!

William has been loving candy corn since he first spotted them in stores. I may be a little overwhelmed, because he’s so great at sharing and insists I have some every time he does. But I found this was a great way to sidetrack him from them for a minute!

I just made a box white cake mix, and then separated it into 3 equal parts, dying two of them yellow and orange with food coloring. Then layer them with yellow on bottom, orange and then white to resemble a candy corn candy.

My cupcakes kinda exploaded everywhere. I’m still getting used to using my gas oven, so some things are hit or miss. I had to cut off some of the top of the cupcakes. But it’s ok….eventually I’ll get it down. But hey, it helped to show the whole color stacking thing to you better! This is what you’ll also see when you bite into the cupcake!

I frosted them with a yummy cream cheese frosting and then topped with a candy corn. Because I can’t get away from them!
