{Modest Mommy Monday} Real Life

The Real Life of a Mom from @ourthriftyideas.com

Today I thought that along with my outfit, I would also share my real life and what goes thru my head on a daily basis. Each day is the same. I wake up to kid snuggles. They climb in bed with me, and from then on I know that I wont be granted alone time until those little ones climb back into bed. I can’t count how many times I try to sneak into the bathroom for a quick 45 seconds…but I almost never get that 45 seconds to myself. There’s either little hands under the door, constant knocks, or the children screaming outside the door. I know that I can’t be alone. I can’t be the only mom who wants to hide in the closet, lock the door for a bit, or even put a few boxes in the way to at least cause an obstacle for them to follow you!

All I want is to pee alone!

Another daily thought is when I get dressed. It’s something that I have had a hard time facing since having kids. My body just isn’t the same. Not that I don’t love myself. Because I have learned to accept my new body. But it is still hard to see other women, even moms; who have a flat tummy, don’t get a double chin in most pictures, two different sized shoes so that most shoes are weird and open toed, and most of all who have that amazing gap in between their thighs.

I’ve been a dancer my whole life, so I’ve always had larger legs. But just recently I seem to notice all the skinny legs around me. I just see the “skinny jeans” that are actually skinny. Mine say skinny jeans, but aren’t too “skinny” if you know what I mean. Each day I get dressed, I wish that I had a gap in between my thighs…maybe one day. Until then, I’ll just use the above stance more often!!!

Another everyday Mommy Life moment is going at the speed, schedule and temperament of the kids. Of course I wish that I could go to a beautiful scenic place each time I want to take pictures for a Modest Mommy Monday post, but I can’t do that with my current life. So instead, I take them in my yard/bedroom and often times have a 4 year old photographer. There’s many times I wish I could have those “professional” pictures, but instead I will have my accessories shown thru the eyes of a kid, taken with my camera as we have a picnic on the front lawn.

Now you know the behind the scenes life, mind, and thoughts of Modest Mommy Monday!

  1. Vanessa, I can totally tell you are such a good mom! You definitely are making fabulous memories with your children. Don’t get down on your body image. I think you look so great! And you are super trendy! If you do want some weight loss tips, I have lost 47lbs & feel so great. I am willing to impart what I have done, if you want it. But I really think you are so cute! And it’s so true about wanting to pee alone or hide in the closet for a few minutes. I usually hide in the kitchen pantry & eat one of my secret stash of bliss chocolates to get back to sanity. Lol.

  2. give me your outfit. It’s too cute I need it

  3. Ha ha…. I never thought going to the bathroom alone would become a luxury! Love your outfit and honest outlook on how things (our bodies) change when having kids. Good thing they’re so cute and lots and lots of love is involved.

  4. Vanessa, I hear you girl! You have wonderful looking legs. I used to be a gymnast and I have always had big thighs. Now I like them because they make me look like I’m strong. Love you and your style!

  5. You are totally awesome! I have been going through some similar things too. My baby is almost 3 months old so peeing alone is still an option but keep at it! I think for me, knowing when to run errands and budgeting time to run them is the biggest change.

  6. I am in absolute love with your outfit and think you look absolutely adorable! Those shoes… LOVE!
