You guys, I’m moving so soon. And I’ve been packing like crazy. To tell you the truth, I never want to see another cardboard box in my life, ever! And this last week I have felt like the worlds worst mom. My attention span to my kids has been the occasional “uh huh” and “stop fighting with each other” as I pack from the other room. And even worse, the kids’ toys are all packed already. So they have literally been playing with measuring cups and the random un-used boxes they can find around the house.
Luckily I discovered that Netflix now has a Family site, where they make it easy to browse family friendly shows and movies. They also make awesome suggestions for you right on the site.
Of course my favorite suggestion is the “Classics to share with your kids”. Because I am a total sentimental weirdo, and love to make my kids watch the same shows that I watched when i was younger. Do you see Saved by the Bell hiding over there on the right? I can’t wait til my kiddos are old enough to start watching/understanding that one. In the mean time, i will just continue to quote each and every episode ever made!
The Little Man loves pretty much every show in the “TV for Curious Kids” section. I love that he enjoys watching the educational shows. There’s so many times he comes up to me and tells me random stats or facts about animals. I wonder where he got it from, then I remember he just watched a Netflix show about it. Its great to know that not all shows are just for fun.
But although I have been way busy with packing lately, we have taken time at least every other night to do a Family Movie Night. It’s so fun to get together, eat some popcorn, and watch a movie in the dark (sometimes with our headlamps on!). So far we have watched Secret Wings, The Lorax and Jumanji. Such great movies.
Unfortunately, the movie night has been known to put a kid or two to sleep on occasion!
Can I tell you how excited I am for the drive to St George next week? NOT. But today I got a dual screen DVD player for the car, and it will let me adapt my phone to play a movie from it. I’m so excited to run thru the “Are We There Yet” choices for our long drive just me and the kids, to the new house.
We took it for a test drive tonight. Although Baby Girl Barker does not look happy, it kept her entertained while we were in the car for close to 2 hours; all thanks to Netflix!
What’s your favorite movie for Family Movie Night?

Hallelujah and a big ol’ AMEN to Netflix. I’m not sure I could live without our subscription 😉
We love netflix, and I am so glad to know that when we have kids there is a family friendly section for them to watch!
Oh, I LOVE Netflix! Such a fun program!
I hate moving!!! I can totally understand not wanting to see another box.. just think, it will all be over soon 🙂 Also, that’s great about the Netflix family site – we LOVE Netflix and that will really come in handy when we have kidlets – thanks for the post!
Yvonne, even without kids, you should check it out. I love that it reminds me of the old shows I used to watch when I was a kid
Oh my goodness! We LOVE Netflix. I can’t believe your dvd player will hook up to your phone. I NEED that one! For Sure! Netflix in the care? Hallelujah!
I don’t know what I would have done without the DVD player and Netflix the last week!!!
