Hope Mandy doesn’t mind (from This Girl’s Life) that I’m totally hijacking her Instagram profile for today’s post. But I have a huge Instagram pet peeve, and I do everything I can about it, until I realized that I don’t think others know that they can help as well. So here I am to save the day…and stop the spam! How can YOU help stop all the spam on Instagram? Do you ever get that “click …… to get more followers” on your account? Well there’s a way to get them off your comments, and to report them to Instagram for review (PS, you can also do this from ANYONE’S comments. Hence why I took the pictures from Mandy’s because I had already gotten rid of all mine)
To start, click on their name in the comment and go to their profile page. Once there, click the little square with the arrow in the upper right corner
You can then pick to block the user from your page (you can see I already have above), and report as spam. I will do BOTH of these; keep them from continuing to post on your feed, and also let Instagram know about them.
Then go back to your comment and side swipe (from left to right) on that person’s comment. You will get an octagon with an ! in it. Click that button
You will now have the option to report for abuse as “spam or scam” and “Abusive Content”.
Once you report that comment, it will be removed from your feed. I know that I can not stop EVERY spam account on the app, but I’m definitely trying because I hate all of the ones I am getting lately.
So grab your phone and start reporting while cleaning up your feed from those spamers.

I always block and report for people who comment or like my photos that are spam. I didn’t realize that you could do it on other peoples pictures as well. Thanks!
Can you do the same with Twitter? That’s where I have most of my problems and I’m not sure how to delete or block them.
I seriously HATE Instagram spam. It bugs me way more than other spam for who knows what reason. Thanks for the tutorial!
I wonder if instagram really gets rid of the spammers though? I report them whenever I see them…I guess thats the only thing you can do!
Have you noticed also, that lately, in the ‘description’ part of the profiles of these spammers, they try and make it look like a realistic person by making it sound like the way someone would typically describe themselves – e.g. “food enthusiast. alcohol lover. gym hater.” and then they go and make it so obvious that its a spam profile by putting this at the end “..get more followers by going to [insert link here]” lol… just a random observation 🙂
