{Sweet Summer Sampling} Nutella and Raspberry Pastry

Sweet Summer Sampling

Haha, so we had an opening for today’s recipe and so I figured I would give myself a little plug for my new blog (have you checked it out yet?!)

Ok, I have a HUGE confession to make. I had never tried Nutella until a few weeks ago…everyone has talked and raved about it, but my family just didn’t understand what all the hype was about. Well, I talked myself into buying a SMALL jar, just to see what everyone was so excited over.
I’m now regretting only buying a small jar! Another confession, for dessert the other night, we just passed the jar and a spoon around the table and ate Nutella for dessert!!

Nutella and Raspberry Pastry

Although it is great by itself, I have learned that it can pizzazz a regular recipe to the next level! So I decided to make a yummy puff pastry dessert and put a little lather some Nutella on.

Nutella & Raspberry Pastry

  • Cream Cheese Filling
  • Nutella
  • Frozen Puff Pastry
  • Fresh Raspberries

Cut the Puff Pastry into equal squares (I cut mine in 3rds, along the fold lines, and then in 3rds the other direction). Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. It will puff up HUGE! Don’t worry, it will shrink down a bit as it cools. Cool the pastry completely
While the pastry is cooling, you can mash up some of the fresh raspberries. I like to have mine in more of a sauce consistency for this dessert.

Cream Cheese Filling
  • 4 oz cream cheese
  • 3/4 cup Cool Whip
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract

Bring the cream cheese to room tempature. Then mix with cool whip and vanilla extract until smooth.
Layer 1 pastry, then lather on some Nutella…like a TON! followed by a bit of the raspberry sauce. Place another pastry on top and a dollop of the cream cheese filling. Top it with a few raspberries, just for looks!
