I thought this was a great savings, and figured I’d give you the heads up!
I’m sure that ANYONE who has driven on I-15 lately has experienced the horrible construction that is going on. Unfortunately I live in Davis County, and my family lives in Utah County, so we make the I-15 drive for an hour quite often.
It gets so stressful having to deal with the traffic, even if there wasn’t construction, and the one thing that makes it easier is the carpool lane!
Well they are now changing to an “Express Lane”. And you will soon be able to use it even when you are a single rider!!! All you will have to do is get what they call an express pass. This will be used to make payments when you are driving solo and using the Express Lane.
“The Express Lanes will be divided into four payment zones. Pricing for each zone will range from 25 cents to $1 based on congestion levels with costs highest during peak traffic times. This dynamic pricing approach will allow UDOT to better manage traffic in the Express Lanes to ensure that carpoolers continue to see the benefit of speeds above 55 mph.”
The best part is, when these passes go on sale June 20th, UDOT is giving away the first 2000 Express Passes for FREE! After the first 2,000, they will cost $8.75. So you will save just by being the first to sign up!
