Getting outdoors and being active this summer!

This summer will be my first since I was a junior in High School that I am not working 40+ hours a week. Because of that, I have a whole lot of extra time on my hands. And I am more excited than ever to get outside and do activities outdoors!
I just heard about REI’s Family Adventure Program. I think this is so great, and a wonderful way to keep kids as well as parents excited about being active. It also helps come up with fabulous ideas on what to do with your time! They have a list here of both hiking and biking trails that you can do!
You can go into any REI store to get a FREE Kid’s Adventure Journal. You can also download the journal straight to your computer by going here. This journal has a place for your kids to draw a picture of their adventure and record what was done! There are also coloring and activity pages!
Also included in the journal is info on the Great American Backyard Campout. How fun! It is held every year on the 4th Saturday of June. That’s June 26th this year! You can camp in your own backyard, or join an existing community campout! Go here for more details on the campout
Also, remember that THIS SATURDAY is FREE Fishing day. You do  not need a fishing license. So take those little ones outside in the beautiful weather and catch some fish! Go here to find some of the BEST places to fish in your area.
Another way to get outdoors for FREE, is FREE Entrance Days at National Parks. There are 392 National Parks, so take your pick! Go here to find which one you’d like to attend
The dates left this year are:
June 5-6
August 14-15
