The best part of owning our own home is the option to make things our own! Sean may be getting sick of me telling him all the new things I want to change, knocking down walls, new wall features, and fixing up the yard.

As you can see, aside from our little snowman, the front door was very plain and generic…which is so not me!
I gave the door a huge and intense cleaning. It took some time and a few cold hands but I got the whole thing dirt free and in the process I discovered that the previous paint job was a hack, they painted OVER some painters tape and left it in the middle of the door plus there were tons of bubbles that were starting to peel. So I had to take a razor blade to the door and remove a bunch of paint and tape from it.
Next I prepped the door for the paint. I taped off the lock and handle, and put down a drop cloth to catch any paint drippings.
The best way to cover your door I’ve found is to paint the concave sections first, making sure to fill all the little gaps. After they are painted, continue painting the insides of the door panel. Then move on to the exterior part of the door as well.
Once everything was painted I let it dry completely for a few hours. Then I repeated everything again for a second coat.
I let the door dry for a full day before putting any decor on it (because I HAVE to have something on the door!) I was worried at first because as you can see the colors were off while painting, but they dried all the same and is totally and completely BEAUTIFUL!
What do you think of the makeover?
