I can officially share my Christmas decor with you guys, and I’m so so so excited!! It was so hard for me to not share this weeks before Thanksgiving; but I know I have to be sensitive to all of those who keep Christmas until after Thanksgiving….that’s just not me!!!

Anyway, this is my very first front porch (new house and all) and although it’s little I was super excited to make it completely inviting and festive! So without further ado, my front porch decor!!!!

I hung two different garlands on the porch. One of them is wrapped in white Christmas lights over the entryway and the second one is across the top of the chalkboard/wreath sign. Wanna know my trick to hanging the lights and garland? I used Command™ Outdoor Light Clips to hang them in both places!

They are so simple to use, and I love how the hooks will hold them tightly in place.

They are easy to assemble with their easy on/easy off strips, and they help you avoid putting nails or screws in your trim/siding in order to hang your decor. I put a few evenly across the trim of the door in order to hang the lights and garland.

I also used one of the clips on the back of my wreath holder, hung upside down, to hook my ribbon on to hang the “Merry Christmas HO HO HO” sign.

Hanging from the sign I put some fun elf stockings. Sometimes these little details make all the difference. Little things snuck in where you don’t expect create an impact!

I also love the Christmas Tree metal crate that I filled with a mini tree, along side a metal tin filled with another tree.

The front door adorned a Christmas wreath that I spruced up with some decor pieces.

I love the unexpected aspect of both the big and little details, and mixture of textures. I put a mini wooden sled in the middle of the wreath, and hung two bells from it as well. The ribbons around the greenery create a great contrast to the smooth texture of the bells.

On the other side of the porch I built a metal table with a wooden top to hold the small Christmas tree inside a wooden crate and draped with a red and green plaid fabric.

In front of the small tree I put some fun mini Christmas signs. These all sit next to another greenery strand that’s wrapped around the hand railing with some white lights. The whole thing looks amazing with the lights on at night time.

While decorating the porch, I realized a few tips that I wanted to share for making your small front porch super inviting this Holiday season.

  • Layer Layer Layer – I love putting things in front of one another creating different places for your eyes to look.
  • Designate the walking area – Really, nobody stands or walks on the two sides of the door, so even though the area is small, you can utilize those areas to your advantage by filling them to the max!
  • Go Up – Don’t just put things on the ground, use a table to bring it up to eye level, hang things high up, and find all sorts of ways to get your decor off the ground
  • Decorate for Day AND Night – Make sure that your area will look great when it’s completely lit up with Christmas lights, but also look great during the daytime when the lights are not on. Make it visually appealing in both lights.
