It’s Summer time and boy is it busy. Sometimes it’s hard to have the little ones home 24/7, and having to find things to entertain them all the time. There are some days that I’m done by 4pm! I am at my whits ends and the options are yelling, or climbing into PJs, eating ice cream and watching a Mommy movie! There are definitely days when I need the hubby to take the kids, even into another room for the night so I can have a bit of “me time” and settle down with a little treat.

My idea of a perfect down time is a carton of Häagen-Dazs® Ice Cream, my comfy pajamas, and a good movie!! So when I found out that with the purchase of 2 Häagen-Dazs products at Walmart you can get a free movie night at Redbox, I knew that it was the perfect makings of a Mommy night in!

It’s really easy to get the free movie, just follow the steps below

  • BUY – Buy any (2) Häagen-Dazs® products at Walmart
  • TEXT – Text “Redbox” to 35350 for receipt submission instructions
  • ENJOY – Get your code and enjoy your free movie night

I made a “Treat Yo Self” wooden sign that’s proudly hanging out in my living room. It’s a “sweet” reminder that sometimes you just need to take some me time, and treat yourself a little! Wanna know how I made it?!

  • Vaseline

I started with my wooden ice cream cone and painted it the colors I wanted. Strawberry ice cream seemed bright and fitting!! For the cone, I did a bright yellow base and then using 2 different shades of brown, painted subtle criss cross patterns.

I then glued it all together using wood glue.

The slatted wood sign got prepped with a dark grey paint and once dried, I rubbed vaseline in random areas along the sign. The top coat of paint (the white) will not adhere to these areas, which is my way of creating the distressed look.

Once the white paint was dry, I used a credit card to scrape the white paint off the vaseline area. Then, using wood glue again, I put the ice cream cone in place on the sign!

I used my Cricut cutting machine to cut out the “Treat Yo Self” in a bright blue vinyl. I didn’t use a transfer tape to place it, because I wanted them a little off….not too straight of lines on this one!

After the vinyl was in place, I used my scissors to cut off the parts of the vinyl that overhang the gaps, making it look more like a stencil than vinyl.

It’s a fun sign to have around and a great reminder as well!!
