Zombie Peanut Butter Oreos

It’s been a while since I have shared a Peanut Butter OREO tutorial, and I don’t know why…we love them at our house, and the kids absolutely love decorating them. So when I asked the kids what new Peanut Butter OREOS they wanted to decorate this time, they were super excited to make Halloween zombies.

To make the peanut butter OREOS, you first start by  spreading some of your favorite peanut butter atop the OREO. We used the fun 2pack OREOS that we picked up at Albertsons (they are also great for school lunches!). Then to keep the peanut butter from smearing when placed in the warm chocolate, you’ll want to freeze them for about a half hour. This will make the peanut butter super cold and adhere onto the OREO even better!!

Next you’ll melt your candy chocolates in a microwave safe bowl in 30 second increments. To give it the perfect texture and really smooth, add about a teaspoon of shortening before placing it in the microwave.

Once the chocolate is completely melting and smooth, place your OREO into it, cookie side down and then use the spoon to drizzle the chocolate over top of the peanut butter until completely covered. Then spoon it out and tap the spoon to smooth out the top and let the excess fall off.

Then place the cookie onto wax paper. Do a few at a time (4 or 5) and then while the chocolate is still melted, you’ll want to decorate!!! We used sugar candy eyes in different colors/sizes and fun sugar candy fangs.

Once all of the sugar candies are in place, put the whole tray into the refrigerator (or freezer for a quick set!). Once the chocolate is dry (it’ll loose it’s shine when dry) you can use an edible marker to draw on any faces or hair you want to.

To accompany our zombies, we thought it would be super fun to use orange Fanta (orange for Halloween…of course!) to make (non-alcoholic of course) orange creamsicle shots. These were such a hit with both the kids and adults. Seriously you guys, they were DARLING and quick to make, quick to drink!!

I used small glass shot glasses for this, but i’ve seen some cute plastic ones in the party aisle that would be great for this too. I filled about 2 teaspoons of vanilla ice cream into the glasses, and then used my 12oz cans of Fanta to fill them up!

Albertsons, Safeway, VONS, Randalls, and Tom Thumb will have an exclusive Spooky Snack Lab display in store where shoppers can pick up their Fanta and OREO essentials while discovering fun recipes and servings ideas perfect for Halloween. We grabbed everything needed for this at Albertsons where you can also find a special Fanta and NABSICO coupon that will be available for a limited time in stores to save $1.50 when they buy (1) Fanta mini-can or 8-pk 12 oz. bottles AND (1) Nabisco Cookie or Cracker (4.5 oz. or larger, any variety.
