Glitter Stir Sticks for a mixed drink. Customize for holidays or to know who's drink is whos.

One of my favorite parts of summer is all the fun and festive drinks. But most of those drinks are “mixes”. Meaning it is a whole bunch of different flavors put into one. So it’s important to either get it mixed really well, or provide a stir stick with the drink so that everyone can stir their drink periodically while sipping away. At our Early Father’s Day dinner, we had both a yummy slush and dirty Dr Pepper (because it’s amazing and there’s a recipe coming soon!) Both drinks would require a little stirring. So I decided to make cute and festive stir sticks using my new glitter supplies from American Crafts. Because who doesn’t want a little extra sparkle in their life?!

I started with cutting a 48 inch dowel into 12 inch sections. It was perfect for our family of 4. I then sanded down the cut edges to eliminate any splinters getting into the drinks.

Then I used my This to That adhesive and wrapped it around the top of the dowel. I used a 1 inch thick adhesive, because that’s how much glitter I wanted at the top.

Dip the adhesive end of the dowel into the tub of glittery goodness! I used the extra fine glitter and love how it looks.

I quickly took the dowel outside (carefully) and then blew off the excess glitter into the grass. That extra fine glitter can be tough to clean up, because of how fine it is.

Once all the stickers were covered in glitter, I used a clear gloss spray to seal the glitter in place. I only used it right at the top to leave the other wood untouched.

For the flag stick, I used my glitter tape and just wrapped it around the top and secured in place. Then I trimmed the edge into the flag shape.

They sit on the table in this fun blue jar, ready to be used in our next mixed drink. They also make it really easy to know who’s drink is who’s when you have a big party!
