Valentines Day Food Table for Just $5

Our Thrifty Ideas - Valentine's Party treat table for just $5.

With Valentines coming up next month, the fun is already starting in preperation for the kids holiday party. And I have found an easy and extremely inexpensive way to both feed the kids as well as use the table as décor!

What you’ll need:

  • Cake Mix – on sale for $1
  • Frosting – on sale for $1
  • Sixlets – $1
  • Metal Mailbox – $1 section at Target
  • Patterned wrapping paper – $1 section at Target

And that’s all you’ll need for this whole display table.

If you know me, you know that I love everything mini for kids. I don’t like giving them full size stuff, especially when they are dressed up all cute; to only have them make a mess of themselves, everything around them and not eat all of it anyway.

I made the cake mix as directed on the box, then cooked half the batter into 24 mini cupcakes, and the rest into about a dozen mini donuts using my Baby Cakes donut maker. To frost the donuts, I warmed the frosting up in the microwave for about 10 seconds to make it more of a liquid. Then I dipped the darker side of the donut (there’s always one!) into the frosting then set it on a cooling rack to set up. Make sure to put your sprinkles on before the frosting sets though!

I also used Valentine’s sixlets for the treat table. The colors went so well, and I love how they look bunched together in a clear glass.

I lined the table with the patterned wrapping paper I had found in the dollar section at Target, and to add just a little more décor, put a washi tape bunting on the front of my metal mailbox.

This is perfect way to decorate yet let the little ones come and grab their own treats throughout your party.

Come back tomorrow, I am going to share with you a fun take-home favor for the mommies at the party!
