Operation Smile

Growing up, my dad owned his own business. All of his employees were like family, so when one of them got pregnant, we were all so excited and happy about it!
But when she had her baby, that feeling quickly left because she was born with a cleft lip. Here in America, it is not as devastating as in 3rd world country, but it is still a scary and heartbreaking situation for a parent and loved ones.
It was great to see her be able to get the surgery to fix her cleft lip, and now that she is older, she is so beautiful and you can barely even tell she once had the cleft lip. But like I said before, that isn’t always the case for others around the world.

Did you know that there is an amazing organization called Operation Smile who sends doctors and other volunteers all over the world to help children with cleft lip, cleft palate, and other facial deformities.

I am heartbroken by this story of Maria, but I also am overjoyed because of the amazing job that Operation smile did to help her get the life that she deserved from birth.

Sometimes in life, we realize there are people living with these hardships, but don’t know what we can do to help. We also don’t realize that things we do on a regular basis could help.
I have recently come across an amazing company called Campus Book Rentals where you can make your much needed purchases, and a portion of it goes to support Operation Smile! How does Campus Book Rentals work? If you are a collage student, and need a text book, all you do is RENT it. Yup, I said rent. That means, you get it in the mail, use it to your hearts desire, and then when you are done you just ship it back.

And the whole time you are thinking about your school while saving money, you are helping to support the great cause of Operation Smile!
My husband is currently in night school, and along with missing him and the time we wish he was home, I also think about the financial side of it. So when I saw that Campus Book Rentals had text books for his HVAC courses, I got super excited to save money (and help out of course!)

I know that school is just about to start, and many students have not bought their textbooks yet, so I wanted to share this info with you all. You can thank me later! LOL
