Welcome Spring

A few weeks ago I sent out a fun teaser on Instagram about the new “Welcome” sign I was making for my front door. I had many people commenting on how excited they were over it, so I posted here on the blog too.

Well, today I am really getting our home into full Sping, and getting things into their place, so you finally get to see the final project.

I purchased the most amazing ribbon from my local Ben Franklin Crafts. It is their newest addition (is it sad i can spot the new ribbons right off the bat?!) and I was the first to break out the roll; I had to take some home with me. Boy was I happy with how it matched the sign.

Isn’t the detail of the ribbon to die for? I was concerned that it would break with a heavy wood sign hanging from it. So to test it out, I took one end of the ribbon, and the lady at the ribbon counter took the other end. We pulled, twisted, and even bit it (yes I said bit) to see if it would tear. It didn’t!!!

So, you want to make one of these for yourself? It is so dang simple.
First find a new or old frame to use. You are going to paint it so even head to your local thrift shop and pick one up.
Sand it down and paint it whatever bright colored paint you would like. Paint it with a few coats and then if you want a shiny finish, spray it with a glossy spray sealant.  I didn’t seal mine, because I’m sure that in just a few months I will be sanding it back down to paint for another project!
For the center, all I did was ruffle 5 strips of fabric and hot glue them onto a piece of paper that was the same size as the opening in the frame (mine is a 10×10).
Then place the ruffles into the frame and finish it off with a fun little welcome banner!
Put this on your front door for a great little treat for your spring visitors!

Are you wondering why there’s not a picture of this thing on my actual door? Cause picture taking + my door = BAD!
