I wanted to repost this tutorial for the holidays. It would be great to make a turkey shirt, or a Christmas Tree. I'm gonna be making some for both kiddos and I'll post pictures when I do!

My newest addiction is making these EASY no sew onesies!! They litterally take 5 minutes and are so dang cute. The other day I put Baby Girl Barker in the owl one, and can't even count the compliments I got on it!
The first one I made was because I got a onesie from our insurance company and I didn't really want to put a onesie on her that said "select health"! So I figured I would cover it up with something I'd be proud to show her off in. I think I accomplished it.
Supplies:
After figuring out what pattern you are going to use, cut out each individual section. That way you know what size HeatBond and Fabric you will need.
Cut out a section of HeatBond for each section of pattern.
Iron the heat bond onto the back side of your fabric (paper side up). You will just need to hold the iron on it for 2-4 seconds.
Repeat for each pattern section.
Trace your pattern onto each fabric section.
Cut out the shapes
Remove the paper backing from your fabric and iron onto your onesie or fabric. Iron each section for 8-10 seconds.
*make sure to start with the bottom layer and work your way up layering one on top of the other.
Embelish however you want! I used buttons on the bird and flowers. On the owl I used buttons and a ribbon for the head bow!

ReplyDeleteVery cute! I would suggest sewing on the buttons with a embroidery thread; buttons are a big chocking hazard.

dont the appliques come off or at leat up in the wash??

DeleteWith the onesies, I had washed them probably 3-4 times each (babies grow too quick they don't get to wear them much more than that) and it did not lift up at all.
If I was doing a toddler shirt or one for an adult that would be worn and washed more, I would probably stitch around the edges.
